Cannabis Research Centre
Welcome to the Midlands State University Cannabis Research Centre, a pioneering hub established in 2023 to lead Zimbabwe into the burgeoning global cannabis industry. Championed by our Vice Chancellor, Professor Victor N. Muzvidziwa, the Centre was conceived to harness the immense potential of legalised cannabis, driving both revenue generation and the practical implementation of our Education 5.0 philosophy.
Who We Are
Operating from within the Department of Agronomy and Horticulture under the Faculty of Agriculture, Environment and Natural Resources Management, our mission is to unlock the transformative power of cannabis for medicinal and industrial applications, creating new opportunities for our students, partners, and the nation.
Licensing & Compliance: A Foundation of Trust
Operating with full legal authority is paramount. The Centre holds two critical licences issued by the Republic of Zimbabwe:
Industrial Hemp Production Licence (granted by the Agriculture Marketing Authority - AMA), covering grain, fibre, and non-high THC medicinal varieties
Medicinal Cannabis Research & Cultivation Licence (granted by the Medicines Control Authority of Zimbabwe - MCAZ).
